Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes Arsenal can win the Premier League title this season.

In an interview with beIN Sports, as per the Mirror, Rodgers has insisted that the Gunners are the favourites to secure league success.

Arsenal, of course, haven't won the trophy in 12 years, but are in the hunt, alongside the likes of Manchester City, Leicester City and Tottenham, to claim the honour this time around.

And ex-Liverpool man Rodgers has suggested that Chilean midfielder Alexis Sanchez is the Gunners' key man, claiming that he 'makes the difference for them'.

Rodgers stated: "I think if you look at it and the squad they have, I’d lean towards Arsenal.

"Sanchez is the player that makes the difference for them."

But the feel good factor in north London has disappeared recently. Arsene Wenger's side haven't won in their last four outings in England's elite division - they haven't even scored in their last three games - so they must get their act together in the immediate future.

They could - and should - have secured all three points against Southampton last night, however; Arsenal were extremely wasteful in front of goal and failed to find a way past the outstanding Fraser Forster.

Fans may well be worried that their side are going to fade away, but there's no reason why to panic just yet. On another day, they would have secured a comfortable victory.

Indeed, the Gunners are still involved in three major competitions this season. Of course, they are set for a mammoth tie against Barcelona in the Champions League, but Wenger could yet inspire his side to a domestic double.
