The online banter between Eric Dier and Dele Alli continues.

Last month Dier kickstarted the on-running series by posting a humorous image of a young Alli found on his MySpace page.

The pair then traded blows, Alli sharing a video of Dier dancing horrendously in the Spurs’ locker room and Dier embarrassing his team-mate by posting a clip of him singing a Sandi Thom tune.

Dier has trolled Alli once again, celebrating reaching 100,000 followers on Instagram by uploading an image of a young Alli posing in sunglasses.

The defensive midfielder confirmed his status as the king of banter with his latest act. How he managed to get access to childhood images of Alli is a mystery and the 19-year-old will do well to recover.

Not that the emerging star will be fussed at the images appearing online. Alli is one of the biggest names in English football at the moment and has given Tottenham and England supporters hope for the future.

His goal against Norwich on Tuesday was his seventh of the season (the same number of career goals as Jack Wilshere in 92 fewer games) as Spurs climbed to third in the table.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won five games in a row and are playing some of the finest football in England, in no small part thanks to Alli.

In just his first season playing in England’s top division, the former MK Dons man has excelled to the point where he will surely be one of the first names in Roy Hodgson’s starting line-up at the summer’s European Championships.

Dier can’t poke fun at him for that.
