Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told his Liverpool players that he hopes to return to training to prepare his side for their FA Cup fourth round replay clash against West Ham United, according to the Mirror.

Klopp missed his side's 2-2 draw against Premier League strugglers Sunderland on Saturday after being taken to hospital for an emergency operation.

The charismatic manager suffered from a dangerous bout of appendicitis, but it appears that he is set to return to Melwood imminently.

The same report claims that Klopp was initially expected to stay on in hospital; however, he discharged himself on Sunday, meaning he could now be involved in proceedings as early as today.

The Mirror also claim that Liverpool medics will stop Klopp returning to work should he suffer a setback from the surgery.

Liverpool struggles

The Reds chief may not be at 100 per cent right now, but he certainly has his work cut out on Merseyside. His side just aren't performing - they have won just one game in their last six Premier League outings - and Klopp is struggling to implement his philosophy to his current crop of players.

As it stands, a number of Liverpool's top stars appear to be fighting for their futures; too many have struggled throughout the course of the season and Klopp will surely look to change the dynamic of his side in the summer.

A victory in the Capital One Cup final over Manchester City will change the mood at Anfield, but there is clearly a fundamental problem at the club.

How many players does Klopp need to sign in the summer? Have your say below!
