Manchester United fans are furious with Memphis Depay after 1-1 draw with Chelsea

Memphis Depay hasn’t made the greatest start to his Manchester United career.

The winger was signed from PSV for £25 million in the summer but is failing to live up to his price-tag and has struggled to gain a regular starting place in Louis van Gaal’s side.

He has often been criticised by United fans this season but none more so than on Sunday following the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Depay was sent on the pitch in the 87th minute to help see out the 1-0 lead that Jesse Lingered had given them.

In the 90th minute, the Dutchman was released down the right-wing but failed to pick out Morgan Schneiderlin with a simple pass with the ball finding it’s way through to Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgian began a quick counter-attack but Depay failed to help his defence by just jogging back.

Chelsea eventually worked the ball well and Diego Costa equalised but United fans didn’t fail to notice the role that Depay had played in it.

Plenty of fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration at their summer signing and it’s fair to say that they didn’t hold back:

But it wasn't just on Twitter that United fans vented their anger at the winger. There was even a change to the Dutchman's Wikipedia page. It read: “Depay has been dubbed “New Ronaldo,” due to similarities in playing style with the Portuguese counterpart. But he is actually very s**t and the worst every player in Manchester United history.”

Harsh words, indeed.

Was Memphis Depay at fault for Chelsea's goal yesterday?
