Christian Benteke ridiculed on Twitter by Liverpool fans for his performance against West Ham

Christian Benteke’s Liverpool career is going from bad to worse.

Benteke has found it difficult to earn himself a regular starting position under Jurgen Klopp with the German manager has preferred another summer signing, Roberto Firmino.

And the Anfield faithful will be praying that it remains that way after watching the Belgian striker miss chance after chance in their FA Cup replay against West Ham, including a simple one-on-one in extra-time.

Benteke might have been spared the ridicule from Liverpool fans had they won the tie, but a 120th minute goal from Angelo Ogbonna meant that the Liverpool fans took to Twitter to vent their anger at their striker.

Some of the tweets are pretty brutal, as you can see:

Benteke signed from Aston Villa in the summer for a massive £32.5 million. If Liverpool fans didn’t think they were forking out too much at the time, they certainly do now.

It’s clear that Benteke is massively lacking in confidence and Tuesday night’s performance would have done him no favours.

Luckily for Liverpool fans, strikers Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi made a return from injury during the match meaning Benteke has probably been relegated to fourth choice striker at the club.

And, by the looks of it, that’s exactly where Liverpool fans will want to see him.

Should Liverpool sell Christian Benteke?
