Miami Heat to retire #32 in Shaquille O'Neal's honour

Shaquille O’Neal has been handed plenty of plaudits for his stellar career in the NBA - it turns out he’s about to get another one. Shaq could be inducted into the league’s Hall of Fame this weekend at All-Star 2016, but before that the Miami Heat have announced that they will retire his number 32 shirt at the start of next season. Heat president Pat Riley said Shaq had taken them to another level as a franchise - he helped Miami win their first NBA championship. Elsewhere, Pau Gasol is to replace Chicago Bulls teammate Jimmy Butler at All-Star weekend, with the latter having strained his left knee. Gasol will appear for the sixth time in an All-Star event - we have to say though, it’s a shame for Butler.
