Dean Ambrose can save WrestleMania 32

The road to WrestleMania is well underway, we already know that Triple H will be main eventing WrestleMania 32 and that his opponent will be the winner of the Triple Threat match at the Fastlane pay per view between Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar.

Normally fans are incredibly excited about the product this time of year as everyone in the company, from the Superstars and Divas to the creative team tend to up their game as we head to the WWE’s biggest show of the year. However, this year two factors are hurting the fans excitement and the quality of the product in general, injuries and predictability.

Superstars like John Cena, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Cesaro have all been sidelined and will miss Mania this year. Injuries are something out of the company's control and when they occur you simply have to carry on and hope that other Superstars will step up their game and fill the shoes left empty by the injured stars.

Predictability on the other hand is something that the company can fix. A predictable product is not always a bad thing, two years ago it was clear that Daniel Bryan would be leaving the arena as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion and it was fine as that was the best scenario at the time since Daniel Bryan winning made sense from a storyline perspective and the fans where going to get the much awaited pay off they had patiently awaited.

This year things are very different, it is obvious that Roman Reigns is the company’s golden boy and looks set to main event WrestleMania, most likely after he pins Dean Ambrose following an interference by the Wyatt Family who will take out Brock Lesnar. The end result is going to be a main even similar to the one in WrestleMania 23 when John Cena was booed out of the building after beating Shawn Michaels.

Predictability is going to hurt the company this year because the payoff is going to be a scenario that the fans (at least the loudest sector of the fans) have made clear they will not accept.

As a fan I am constantly fantasy booking storylines, when I see something on TV I don’t appreciate I find myself just thinking about how I would have done things if I had the power to change things. This is how I would book WrestleMania 32 if I was given the chance.

We start off at the main event of Fastlane, after 20 minutes of hard hitting action and near falls, Dean Ambrose has his eyes set on Brock with Roman out of the ring. Just as Dean Ambrose is about to hit dirty deeds, Brock reverses it and lifts Dean up for an F5 but before he can execute the move, Roman hits a Spear on Brock who collapses and falls out of the ring.

Roman looks frustrated as he can’t capitalize on the finishing move, he turns around and walks into a dirty deeds by Dean who is still in the ring. Dean covers Roman and pins him 1-2-3, Dean Ambrose wins clean without any interference by the Wyatt Family and just like that we have a new number one contender for WrestleMania.

Post-match Dean offers to shake Roman’s hand but Roman leaves the ring, giving us the impression of a potential heel turn.

The next night on Raw, Dean Ambrose opens the show by speaking about the win at Fastlane and what it means for him to be in the main event of WrestleMania against Triple H. Dean is interrupted near the end of his promo by Triple H, who questions whether or not Dean will manage to make it to WrestleMania as there is still a long way to go. The League of Nations will then walk down and surround the ring, however just as they are about to beat Dean down, Roman Reigns runs through the crowd and makes the save.

Once the ring is cleared, Roman apologises to Dean about refusing to shake his hand. He tells Dean that he wanted the main event at WrestleMania desperately but if he had to lose to anyone, he is glad that he lost to his brother. Roman then assures Dean that he will have his back at Mania and that he will not have to worry about any interference during his match.

The next week Roman issues a challenge to the Authority that at WrestleMania he will fight any member of the League of Nations and if he wins they are banned from being ring side at the main event, but if they win he will not be able to stand by his brother in the biggest moment of his career. After some hesitation Triple H and Stephanie accept Roman’s challenge and they handpick Rusev as his opponent for Mania.

During the remaining weeks, the build-up will focus exclusively on Dean and Triple H who will constantly bring down Dean by reminding him how he used to be the leader of the Shield, yet he is the only member that has not won the big one and he will never win it.

Dean on the other hand will simply be Dean, he will smile acknowledge that he is in for a beating but assure that he is going to do what the Ultimate Warrior did at Wrestlemania 6, he is leaving the arena as the Intercontinental Champion and the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

We finally reach WrestleMania 32, in the opening match of the night Roman emerges victorious over Rusev and bans the League of Nations from interfering in the main event. Roman then finds Dean and reminds him that he has his back and he will be with him against Triple H. Dean thanks Roman for taking care of the League of Nations but he asks him to let him go out on his own because it’s his night to shine, before leaving he tells Roman that he better be there for the after party because they are going to celebrate and as soon as he is champ, Roman is first in line for the title, they embrace and Dean walks out for the main event.

In the main event, Dean will take constant punishment at the hands of the game but he just keeps coming back for more and fatigue starts getting the best of the veteran. Triple H becomes frustrated and tries to throw Dean out of the ring but he holds on to the ropes and goes for a clothesline, Triple H manages to avoid it by shielding himself with the referee. Once the referee is down, Triple H low blows Dean and regains control.

With no official present, Stephanie McMahon hands Triple H a sledgehammer but just as he is about to nail Dean with it, Roman comes down and takes the sledgehammer from Triple H. Roman then holds the sledgehammer against Triple H’s neck as Dean slowly gets to his feet.

Then the unthinkable happens, Roman hits Dean with the sledgehammer and fully unloads on him as he assaults him without mercy. He stops just as the referee regains consciousness and all that is left is for Triple H to cover Dean and regain his championship.

Post-match Roman will assault Dean a second time, taking him out cold. He will then turn to Triple H and Stephanie and embrace them both as he confirms what we already know, he is the new member of the authority.

The next night on Raw, the new authority address the crowd. Triple H reminds us how Dean Ambrose had guaranteed us that he would leave WrestleMania as the Intercontinental Champion and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, yet he not only failed to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship he has also been stripped of his Intercontinental Championship as due to injury he will not be able to compete within the mandatory 30 days.

Triple H will then address Roman Reigns and remind him that he interfered in the main event of WrestleMania and that there will be consequences for his actions, a main event is set for that very same Raw with Triple H defending his title against Roman Reigns.

We move on to the main event, the time keeper rings the bell and Triple H walks up to Roman Reigns in the middle of the ring. He looks him in the eye, grins and then he simply lies on his back and Roman covers him for the pin and just like that Roman Reigns becomes our new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Triple H will eventually inform us that now that he dropped the belt because Roman is the corporate champion he was looking for. He is the one that can represent the company the way it should be represented and that is best for business.

This scenario will allow Roman to rise a hated heel, something the company desperately needs right now as evidenced by the fact that Triple H had to be made Champion again.

It will also pave the way for Dean Ambrose to become the biggest face of the company as he will eventually return for revenge…but that is a story for another time.
