The first NXT TakeOver special of the year edges closer as the excitement continues to build around the event taking place on WrestleMania weekend.

We have some great matches to look forward to at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center with Austin Aries in action. Finn Balor defends his NXT Championship against Samoa Joe with Bayley defending her NXT Women’s Championship against Asuka.

It doesn’t end there; Sami Zayn takes on the incoming King of Strong Style Shinsuke Nakamura in what should be a fantastic match.

However, despite all of this success NXT has had over the past year the brand is expected to look very different once the WrestleMania weekend comes to a close in April.

The WWE will be looking to call up three stars to the main roster, and it’s no secret which three are being touted for moves. Zayn, Balor and Joe should be on the main roster soon, and the WWE have faith in another trio to carry the NXT brand through 2016.

Aries, Apollo Crews and Nakamura are the three the WWE are putting their faith in, as they should achieve great things in 2016 on NXT.

There is an issue with this, however, as most WWE officials believe calling up three of NXT’s biggest draws as it will change the NXT brand drastically and leave a huge gap considering how much success they have found.

Obviously, this is the kind of problem you want, but it’s also a risk for the NXT stars. We all want to see Balor, Joe and Zayn on the main roster, but you don’t want them to get lost in the pack because they have so much to offer.

WrestleZone.com are reporting that TakeOver: Dallas is going to be a massive event which will determine the future of NXT in a big way.

The sad news is that Balor probably won’t be making an appearance on the main roster the night after WrestleMania. Apparently, the WWE have long-term plans for the Irishman’s main roster debut, and they have reportedly postponed that until the end of the year as they want him to remain the face of NXT.

If that happens, then we can expect to see Balor retain his NXT Championship at TakeOver. However, there have been serious talks to have Joe defeat Balor for the NXT Championship – this could still mean Balor remains on NXT for a little while longer before making an eventual jump.

Whatever happens, it’s going to be an exciting year ahead for NXT. It will be sad to see the likes of Zayn and Balor leave NXT, but it will be great to see all of their hard work pay off.

We should also keep an eye on Bayley heading into April, Asuka may dethrone her which will allow Bayley to also make the move up to the main roster.
