Six superstars that need to win at NXT TakeOver: Dallas

It looks as if the matches for NXT TakeOver: Dallas have been finalised with six matches announced for the event so far.

The big names left out of the end will probably be thrown in there somewhere – Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady are too popular to miss the entire event which takes place on WrestleMania weekend.

Some interesting matches have been booked and there are ways the WWE can move forward from here in the best way possible; they need to pick the right winners from the matches.

Austin Aries has his first TakeOver match against Baron Corbin; this is a great fan favourite vs. nuclear heat match-up which should be a lot of fun to watch. We usually see these things happen in the past, a new guy comes in looking to make an impact and he does so by beating an established star.

It’s a repeated process used to this day. However, I don’t think this should be the case here.

We’re already assuming Corbin is going to lose this match so it would be a nice change and a good surprise to see a new addition lose. This loss won’t hurt Aries at all as he’s very popular and a fantastic wrestler, it does more harm to Corbin. If he loses, where does he go from here?

I’ll be the first to admit that I am a huge American Alpha mark; you’ll struggle to find a great wrestling tag team like Jason Jordan and Chad Gable, who are incredible in the ring and have brilliant chemistry as well.

I just think the WWE can milk this feud a little more, Dash and Dawson are great at winning when they’re down. The NXT fans hate them for that and that’s why they’re great heel champions and I feel it needs to stay like that for a short while.

American Alpha will continue to grow and a loss to Dash and Dawson could be good for them. They’ll have the support and the championship match experience – then at a later date, they can go on to be crowned champions.

It seems like the Apollo Crews bandwagon has died down a bit and it doesn’t help that he’s being thrown into a match with Elias Samson, someone struggling to connect with the fans.

The match should be hard-hitting with their different styles but I don’t see Samson being a huge player on NXT. He has a good look about him but he’s not at a championship level yet, unlike Crews.

Crews needs a win – any win at a TakeOver – to get back into the championship fold and it’ll be a great start in Dallas.

I’m torn here; Sami Zayn is my favourite wrestler but when did we ever think we will have the King of Strong Style competing on NXT? It should be a great match, possibly the match of the night and if there’s anyone who can take a strong style, it’s Zayn.

Fans will be torn between the two because it will be a fantastic occasion, and although I mentioned it earlier with Aries losing – I think Nakamura should pick up a win here. I’m not sure how long he’ll remain on NXT and if he’s going to stick around for a while it’s vital he starts off strongly.

A win over Zayn is the best way to make an impact on NXT, expect this to be a close and entertaining match.

Bayley is arguably the most popular star in all of NXT, the level of impact she’s had probably won’t ever be matched and she’s enjoyed a great run as NXT Women’s Champion.

I do think the main roster needs Bayley to switch things up and Asuka is someone who can be a great female champion with plenty of women working hard to enter contention. It’ll be good to see others get opportunities and this victory could work wonders for Asuka.

Balor is defending his title against Samoa Joe and one of these men will be moving up to the main roster soon, that’s a fact. At this time, I’d like to see Joe move up with Balor staying on NXT for a little while longer as new stars emerge.

Balor has been a fantastic champion and that should continue for a little while longer while Joe doesn’t need the championship just yet. There are plenty of avenues he could go down as Balor can help the other talent get ready for the time comes to dethrone him.
