Hector Bellerin has been a revelation for Arsenal this season, combining raw speed with nous both going forward and defending to keep Mathieu Debuchy out of the first-team.

Yet with great consistency comes great interest (or something to that effect) and, according to Catalan newspaper Sport, Barcelona are already honing in on the young right-back as they seek to take him back to Spain.

Unsettling rumour

The rumour, relayed today by The Independent, will unsettle Arsenal fans who have had to put up with losing star players to big clubs in the past.

Bellerin, as was the case with ex-Gunner Cesc Fabregas, is a product of Barcelona’s fabled youth academy, so the cause for concern seems legitimate.

The report in question states that Barca have expressed an interest after Bellerin’s impressive display in the Champions League round of 16 first leg.

Speculation continues

Think of it as a natural continuation of the stories that suggested both Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique, two of Barca’s most senior players, sought Bellerin out to personally commend him for his performance.

At the moment it’s nothing more than mere speculation, but that could change as the summer transfer window draws closer.

Barcelona's desire

The Blaugrana’s current first-choice right-back, Dani Alves, is approaching the end of his career at the top level, so the theory that Luis Enrique would be readying himself to appoint a successor is one not altogether difficult to get behind.

Arsenal fans, do you think Bellerin would leave for Barca? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box provided.
