3 NXT stars could join the WWE main roster after WrestleMania

WrestleMania is quickly approaching, and the excitement continues to increase, not only for the pay-per-view but the WrestleMania weekend as a whole.

We have the Hall of Fame, NXT TakeOver: Dallas and WrestleMania all taking place over two days. Stretch it out to three days and we’re in for what many believe is the best episode of Monday Night Raw all year.

The atmosphere is always electric, and the WWE acknowledge that by going all out for the episode. The matches we see are of good quality, there are surprises which include potential debuts, and we know there will be much of the same on April 3.

Attention will turn to the stars of NXT to see which lucky individual – or individuals – will make the jump to the main roster in front of the loudest crowd of the year. There are a few obvious or big-name choices that stand out, but we need to be aware that not every massive star will debut on the night.

The fact is, NXT need them. It will harm the brand if they all jump ship at the same time so I don’t think we’ll see more than two stars make their debut on the main roster. Here are the realistic options we should expect to see appearing on Raw the night after WrestleMania.

Let’s get the most obvious option out of the way. Enzo Amore and Big Cass have been rumoured to make their main roster debuts for some months now. They’ve been appearing on house shows and have even wrestled in dark matches, but the WWE haven’t pulled the trigger as of yet.

There were strong rumours that the popular duo could make an appearance at the Fastlane pay-per-view in the New Day and Edge & Christian segment, but nothing came to fruition.

Having them debut now would be pointless as they’d struggle to make an impact in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, and they probably wouldn’t get a blockbuster match either. The night after WrestleMania is the perfect night, yes we’ll all be expecting it but that doesn’t mean we won’t react positively.

The likelihood is they’ll be interrupting the New Day, a feud which is guaranteed to be gold. The only question is, will Carmella be joining them?

Technically, Sami Zayn has already made his main roster debut by taking on John Cena in a United States Championship open challenge. Unfortunately, for him, he got injured and had to take quite some time off, but now he’s back on NXT, and he isn’t expected to stay there for too long.

We know this because he isn’t in the NXT Championship picture anymore, instead he’ll be taking on Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: Dallas and that’s expected to be his final night as an NXT star before he makes the jump to the main roster on a full-time basis.

Zayn is too popular to not get over with the crowd, the second his music hits the crowd is going to erupt into thunderous cheers for somebody who deserves to be on that stage and inside of the ring.

The reaction could be even louder if he’s standing opposite Kevin Owens on that particular night.

I believe only one of these guys will go on to make their main roster debut the night after WrestleMania. Finn Balor defends his NXT Championship against Samoa Joe at TakeOver and rumours suggest one of these two men is guaranteed to be appearing on Raw.

To put it simply, the loser of this match doesn’t necessarily lose. Sure, he won’t walk out with the championship title, but he’ll be rewarded with a call-up instead. In my opinion, I can’t see Balor losing the NXT Championship just yet. His title reign has been mixed despite his popularity and with the imminent arrivals of Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows, it makes sense to stay on NXT.

This will be an incredible story for Samoa Joe, at one stage it never looked as if we’d see him in a WWE ring. Then it was revealed the WWE signed him to an exclusive deal so he couldn’t work anywhere else and he’s continuing to show how valuable he is as a heel. He’s doing some of his best work on the microphone, and his potential arrival will be different to previous debuts.

The biggest surprised usually come in the form of faces, the good guys that get those huge pops ranging from Neville to Paige. It will be interesting to see how the audience reacts when they hear Joe’s music blare on the PA system and just like AJ Styles – it’ll be a surreal moment.
