Payet, who has contributed to five of West Ham’s last seven FA Cup goals, is a serious contender for the PFA’s Premier League Player of the Season award - and today he produced a serious contender for best free-kick, or perhaps even goal, of the season.

The fact he was so far out and needed to beat arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, David de Gea, has to make it one of the best goals Payet has ever scored - and he’s netted a few beauties during his career.

West Ham couldn’t hold on to their one-goal advantage, however.

Anthony Martial levelled the scores with seven minutes remaining, meaning this FA Cup quarter-final will be settled in a replay at Upton Park.

West Ham will be disappointed that they failed to do the job at Old Trafford but should be confident of beating Louis van Gaal’s disjointed side at their home ground.
