Marouane Fellaini slated on Twitter by Manchester United fans after draw with West Ham

The second loudest cheer of the day from Manchester United fans during their 1-1 draw against West Ham came when Marouane Fellaini was hauled off by Louis van Gaal in the 76th minute.

The Belgian produced an uninspiring performance alongside Michael Carrick in the centre of midfield before being replaced by Bastian Schweinsteiger.

He was guilty of giving the ball away on countless occasions and played with very little urgency, slowing the play down when United attempted to attack.

And the home side looked a completely different side with the German in place of Fellaini and Anthony Martial equalised just seven minutes after the substitution.

Just like the United fans at Old Trafford, Red Devils on Twitter were furious with their player’s performance.

Some were even questioning the inclusion of Fellaini in the starting XI before the match, with both Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin on the bench.

But after this poor display from the former Everton man, surely he’ll be benched ahead of the Europa League second-leg against Liverpool next week.

West Ham had earlier taken the lead with a sensational 35-yard free-kick from Dimitri Payet which struck the post before going in.

Neither side were able to find a winner after Martial’s leveller and will play out a replay at Upton Park - the last ever FA Cup match at the historic stadium before West Ham move to the Olympic Stadium.

Fellaini hit headlines in midweek following their 2-0 defeat against Liverpool on Thursday when he appeared to elbow Emre Can off the ball late on at Anfield.
