AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has claimed Mario Balotelli has more than just groin problems which is keeping him out of the first-team.

The Milan official believes the on-loan Liverpool striker also has 'psychological' problems, which are all in his head.

The Italian only left the San Siro two years ago, agreeing to join Premier League side Liverpool after they paid £16million for him.

However, one year later and just one Premier League goal later, Brendan Rodgers decided to loan the striker back to his former club in Italy.

Since making his return to the Serie A, Balotelli has made just 13 league appearances for Milan, scoring just the individual goal, and Galliani has admitted there are a lot of problems with the controversial striker.

'Psychological Problems'

Groin issues have kept him sidelined throughout the season, but the senior official at the San Siro believes there are even deeper issues with the striker, issues that are in his head.

"I agree with our coach [Sinisa Mihajlovic], Mario is physically okay but mentally he is not yet. It’s a psychological problem," Galliani told Mediaset Premium.

“We have two ways to get the Europa League right now.

"By the end of the season, we will do a complete review of our work.”

Balotelli Blamed

As it stands, Milan are sixth in the table, and it's looking like they will be set for another season without European football, and Balotelli is taking a lot of the blame, in particular from the club's vice-president.

“Luiz Adriano and Jeremy Menez are recovering their form, but Balotelli is not giving his best on the pitch," Galliani added.

“I hope he comes back the one of three years ago, showing us how good he is.

“He is not doing the things the big strikers do."
