Manuel Neuer pulls off one-handed save without looking

Manuel Neuer turns 30 later this month but the Bayern Munich star is still widely considered the best goalkeeper in world football.

The German World Cup winner, thanks largely to his imposing 6ft 4in frame, is capable of pulling off seemingly impossible saves.

And he did just that during training this week. With just one hand, and without looking, Neuer saved a shot while in conversation with one of the Bayern Munich coaches. (Scroll down this page to watch the video).

Is the video real? We’ve seen a few similar promo videos from Adidas over the past few weeks and it’s difficult to tell.

If it is, it’s safe to assume it took more than one take. If we’re wrong, Neuer truly is a robot.

Guardiola: Neuer will stay with Bayern Munich

Neuer, who has been capped 63 times by Germany, was recently linked with a move to Manchester City - Pep Guardiola’s next club.

However, Guardiola played down the rumours, insisting Neuer will stay with Bayern Munich for potentially another eight or nine years.

"Manuel Neuer will be the goalkeeper at Bayern Munich for the next five, six, seven, eight or nine years,” the future Man City boss was quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News earlier this month.

"That's my hunch. I haven't asked him about this, I don't know what he thinks.

"But I think he could stay at Bayern Munich for the rest of his career."

Lahm: Neuer is the world's best

There are some people who believe that Manchester United’s David de Gea has surpassed Neuer as the world’s best keeper - but Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm, perhaps unsurprisingly, doesn’t register to that school of thought.

"To be successful you need talent, technical skills, physical aptitude and an understanding of the game," the experienced defender was quoted as saying by Goal last month.

"Height and size aren't crucial. If you want to play at the highest level, you need the first three skills but every outstanding player understands the game extremely well too.

"Neuer is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the game, but he has also had forgettable moments.

"In my opinion, Manuel is without doubt the best goalkeeper in the world and I wouldn't want anyone else in my team."

Neuer - unorthodox but brilliant

Neuer’s unorthodox style of goalkeeping carries its risks but, more often than not, he makes the right decisions during matches.

That’s not to say his career has been error-free - far from it, in fact - but when Neuer rushes off his line to win the ball, nine times out of 10 he’ll succeed.

Some managers might prefer their goalkeepers to take fewer risks during matches - but Guardiola clearly isn’t one of them.
