BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves has insisted that he expects Liverpool to finish higher than Manchester United in the Premier League this season.

Hargreaves, formerly of the Red Devils, believes that Jurgen Klopp's side are 'flying' right now and will continue to improve.

In fact, the former England international has suggested that Liverpool could be 'an incredibly interesting team next year' if they spend big in the next transfer window.

The Reds, of course, dumped rivals Manchester United out of the Europa League on Thursday after securing a 3-1 aggregate victory.

But, according to Hargreaves, it could yet get even worse for United as he believes the club's rivals will finish above them in the table.

Liverpool heading in the right direction

Hargreaves most definitely thinks that Liverpool are heading in the right direction and it's difficult to disagree with that notion at this stage.

Under Klopp's regime, a number of the club's exciting stars are starting to prove their credentials and should only improve over the coming months and years.

United, on the other hand, appear to be going backwards; with Louis van Gaal in charge, they have a lack of identity and are struggling to produce the goods. Finishing below Liverpool really would increase the pressure on the Dutchman, who may fail to save his job.
