Neymar and Roberto Soldado got into an altercation during Barcelona’s game with Villarreal that resulted in the former Tottenham striker calling Neymar a “clown”.

That is according to Spanish publication Sport, who believe the Villarreal forward clearly told Neymar, “you are a clown” when Neymar won a penalty.

The Barcelona star went down under Sergio Asenjo’s challenge but Villarreal’s players were furious at Neymar, thinking he had dived.

The 24-year-old got up and dispatched the resulting penalty to put Barcelona 2-0 up.

With a two-goal lead, you would expect Luis Enrique’s team to go on and secure all three points in comfortable fashion. But, surprising, that wasn’t the case - Cedric Bakambu and a Jeremy Mathieu own-goal led to both teams sharing a point.

Did Neymar dive? Judge for yourself

Enrique won’t be too upset with his team’s inability to close out the game - they now have a nine-point lead at the top of La Liga following Atletico Madrid’s 2-1 loss to Sporting Gijon on Saturday.

However, he might take issue with Neymar’s growing reputation as a cheat. It did appear that the Brazilian forced the contact with Asenjo and this isn’t the first time opposing players have reacted angrily towards the former Santos man.

Pedro Leon wasn't happy

Getafe’s Pedro Leon had a word with the South American during last weekend’s fixture after Neymar attempted a dive.

He’s a brilliant talent - Neymar came third in January’s Ballon d’Or voting - but the sooner he cuts his penchant for the dark arts out of his game, the better.
