Football legend David Beckham has hit out at critics after his son Brooklyn was selected to photograph Burberry’s latest campaign.

As reported by The Sun, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder has insisted that Brooklyn has 'talent' but admits that he will make mistakes along the way.

The 16-year-old's opportunity to photograph Burberry’s campaign was put down to nepotism, but Beckham senior has dismissed that notion.

The ex-England captain stated: “We’ve always protected our children but we’ve always been honest with them, as well, ‘There are going to be things said about you, about us, that aren’t true.’

“Brooklyn is 16 coming on 17, and we know he’s going to make his mistakes - and we know he’ll have opportunities because of us.

“But he’s making opportunities for himself, too. So far we’ve been very lucky that he’s found a passion. Whether people believe it or not, he’s got talent. He’s got a great eye and proven that in the images he’s taken.”

Iconic Beckham

Naturally, whether or not Brooklyn has talent, his father's status isn't going to disappear in a hurry.

Beckham, of course, retired from the game as a national icon after racking up as many as 115 international caps for the Three Lions.

The ex-right-winger played for the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and PSG during his glorious career.

Ultimately, as the former free-kick specialist continues to promote his brand, his legacy looks set to continue for some time to come.
