Nick Blackwell is in an induced coma after suffering a bleed on the brain during his British middleweight title defeat by Chris Eubank Jr on Saturday night.

The 25-year-old was rushed to hospital on a stretcher, according to The Sun, after collapsing as the result was read out following the 10th-round stoppage.

The fight was stopped on the advice of the doctor, who said the swelling over Blackwell’s fight meant the bout could not continue.

"It is our understanding that Nick has a bleed on the brain and is under observation by hospital staff," British Boxing Board of Control general secretary Robert Smith was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"We will just have to wait and see what the hospital says," added Smith, who spoke to Blackwell's camp last night but was not at the fight in London.
