Which original NXT stars could succeed on the main roster?

The most loyal of NXT fans will hope that every single star on the promotion can break onto the main roster and create a similar impact to the one Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens have made, but it doesn’t always end up that way.

Moving up isn’t always the best thing to happen, sure getting paid more is a great bonus but just ask Tyler Breeze and The Ascension how their jumps to the main roster went.

In fact, some big-name stars even fail to make it through NXT, such as Solomon Crowe who was granted his release last year.

A handful of stars make it to the main roster and succeed; usually, they’re the ones who have made names for themselves on the independent scene, and their fan base follows their career to the WWE.

However, there are stars on NXT who haven’t had the same level of success on the independent scene – if any at all – so, for them, making a successful move to the main roster could prove to be more difficult.

In this case, we can call them original NXT stars, the talents who haven’t wrestled anywhere else, or failed to make it the top in any other promotion. Here are the current original NXT stars I believe could make an impact on the main roster, whenever their time comes.

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady are two of the most popular superstars in all of WWE. Their enthusiasm, popularity and charisma can’t be matched by many stars and the day they leave NXT, it’ll be a huge loss because they’ve been entertaining the fans there for so long.

The good thing is their main roster jump will almost be a guaranteed success; they’re the complete opposite of a team like The Ascension and the fans will love what they bring to the table. They have a great look, they stand out, they have a unique move-set and their catchphrases catch on in an instant.

They’re a unique team in general and even Stone Cold Steve Austin sees a bright future in the duo, they may not have been NXT Tag Team Champions by now, but there’s no denying the fact that Enzo and Big Cass will light up the tag team division on the main roster.

Another team on NXT who will make an impact on the main roster are American Alpha. Like Enzo and Big Cass, they receive incredible reactions on a weekly basis. I’ve been in the crowd in Blackpool when Chad Gable and Jason Jordan hit the ring and nobody else matched up to their reaction that night.

Jordan and Gable look like incredible wrestlers, and they should be, they both come from a wrestling background, and they’ve transitioned brilliantly into a WWE style, and it’s no surprise that fans love them.

They look like an old school tag team, similar to Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin and their chemistry in the ring is incredible. This is something I believe the main roster will appreciate and even though they’re on NXT right now, they’re probably better than the majority of the tag teams the WWE have.

Again, it’ll be a huge loss to NXT but a huge gain for the main roster to receive two talented individuals and one solid, entertaining tag team.

A couple of years ago I would never have thought Baron Corbin could be anywhere near the main roster. He has the look that Vince McMahon would like, and usually, that’s enough to succeed. However, Corbin has stayed on NXT, and it’s a good job he did.

I’m pleased that he didn’t move up because Corbin is perhaps the most-improved star on NXT over the past couple of years. He’s embraced the role of the ultimate heel as it now comes naturally to him, he’s now comfortable on the microphone as it looks like he's being himself but finally, he’s working inside of the ring for longer than a few seconds.

He has improved a lot in the ring to a point where he can consistently put on great matches. He moves well, and that could work in his favour when he moves up. He can be a similar heel on the main roster, similar to Owens but with his favourable look, there’s a chance he may even surpass him.

Tye Dillinger may be getting older now, but he could still enjoy a couple of year’s success on the main roster if he’s called up at the right time. I’m not saying he will become NXT Champion or even enter the main event scene on the main roster, but he can still be a valuable asset to the main roster.

Dillinger is a solid in-ring worker who can consistently put on great performances with anybody you put in front of him. However, I believe it’s his new ‘Perfect 10’ gimmick which could go over on the main roster.

The fans would love what he has to offer regarding grading them as well as chanting the number 10 back at him; it’s a chant we hear in full force whenever he’s on screen.

Saying that, I believe he could be a valuable mid-card star. I don’t think he’d be another Breeze, but he could certainly offer something if he’s booked as a mid-car star and not a complete jobber.

I could list plenty of women here as most of them have enough ability to dominate on NXT before making a similar impact on the main roster. Carmella is somebody who is continuing to improve and could be a huge asset alongside Enzo and Big Cass while Alexa Bliss is one of the best around, despite being so young.

They’ve been given plenty of opportunities to impress, and they never fail to do so. Bliss has really come out of her shell with her new gimmick and she could be a future NXT Women’s Champion to give her time to develop further while Carmella is probably edging closer to the main roster.

Dana Brooke is the one I believe could succeed the most, she’s strong, has a great look and is reportedly in Triple H’s good books, so that’s always a positive.

The ones with minimal wrestling experience are doing well but have it much tougher because they’re looking to make an impact alongside women who have had previous experience around the world, or who have been doing this for a longer time on NXT.

Nevertheless, with more time and a little more character development, the women should be fine when they’re given the nod to move up.
