When Alexandre Pato joined Chelsea on loan at the end of January, fans were pretty excited.

The Brazilian was one of the hottest prospects in world football when he was a regular in the AC Milan side early in his career.

But after a string of injuries, Pato found himself returning to his native Brazil in an attempt to fulfil his promising potential.

A January move to Chelsea was supposed to get his career back on track but, caretaker manager Guus Hiddink, didn’t believe the striker was fit enough to play first-team football.

In fact, it took him over two months to make his debut when he eventually came on as a substitute against Aston Villa.

But fans of the Stamford Bridge club are now adamant that it was worth the wait - according to Twitter that is.

It took Pato just 25 minutes to score his first goal for the Blues from the penalty spot - after he was hauled down in the penalty box.

Despite Chelsea being rock bottom, that didn't stop them from getting carried away with Pato's performances.

But before we all get carried away, we must consider the quality of the opposition. Villa have won just three times in the league this season and relegation could be confirmed as early as next week.

Chelsea fans don't seem to have taken that into consideration and believe Pato is the real deal. Only time will tell, but surely you can't judge a striker on his performance against one of the worst sides in Premier League history!?
