WWE: A quick heel turn and three other ways to fix Eva Marie

Football News

As we saw this past week on Monday Night Raw, Eva Marie made her return to the main roster and was swiftly added to the five on five Team Total Diva’s vs. Team Bad & Blonde taking place at WrestleMania 32 this Sunday.

Eva Marie has aligned herself with the faces, and as expected, she was met with a chorus of thunderous boos from the Brooklyn crowd, something she was used to over in Orlando where she wrestled on NXT for one year and failed to make any sort of impact.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the WWE believed Eva Marie would get a positive reaction from the crowd; that clearly wasn’t the case and now Eva Marie – who has barely been tested at any real level on the main roster – has bagged herself a match at WrestleMania.

It’s clear the WWE aren’t going to completely give up on her; she’s an important star on Total Diva’s, and she has the look the WWE love, they will definitely invest in her which is why they’ve moved her up.

However, there ways they can fix her although it will take a while before she is welcomed by the WWE Universe.

I believe in the long-run, the WWE will have no choice but to turn Eva Marie heel again as that’s where most of her strengths lie. Although, I do think the more time they waste, the less of an impact she’ll have on the main roster.

A heel turn needs to take place at WrestleMania in front of a record-breaking crowd; it’s the best way to get her name out there otherwise she’ll be known as somebody who was floating around behind the other women in her team.

She can succeed as a heel, and this would be a huge moment for her, to turn on her teammates when they have a huge chance to win at WrestleMania; it’ll be her name we’ll remember when the event comes to an end.

If the WWE give up on her chances of succeeding on the main roster, she’s lucky that she has the option of moving back down to NXT where she’s been a decent heel female star.

She’s aligned herself with Nia Jax, and the NXT fans have made it clear that they don’t like Eva Marie, that makes her the ultimate heel on the roster, and it’s something she needs to capitalise on. We saw how close the NXT fans were to rioting when she went closer and closer to defeating Bayley for the NXT Women’s Champion, she needs to use those reactions to embrace a heel role.

She’ll be able to build a strong, heel character for herself to move forward with, but she’ll be in the best place to learn with some of the finest trainers around. She’ll have opportunities to work on her promos; she’ll have the facilities to improve inside of the ring, and there’s plenty of time to mould her into the biggest heel Diva on the main roster.

They key thing for Eva Marie is that if she’s serious about making it as an in-ring competitor and doesn’t want to stay on Total Diva’s, she’s going to need to put some serious work in at the Performance Center.

If she can show off what she's been learning then perhaps, she'll be welcomed by the fans, and they'll give her a chance to show us what she has to offer.

Until then, if she can’t cut it at the top, another easy option is to have her manage somebody. It doesn’t matter if it’s a male or female superstar, it’s important to just keep her on screen for the sake of her character development.

The better her character develops, the more the WWE Universe will be used to seeing her, and there’s a chance our minds could change if she does improve. I believe she could be a valuable asset to some male and female talents, potentially playing the same role Lana did before entering the ring to compete once again.

The worst thing that could happen to Eva Marie, and it’s something which could really harm her in-ring career, is to enter a feud with any of the Four Horsewomen.

We heard the reactions against Bayley on NXT, imagine how much negative responses she’ll get going up against the likes of Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks. Although it’s great for her as a heel Diva – if she does turn heel at that point – she simply isn’t ready to mix it up with them, it’ll do her more harm than good.

This wouldn’t benefit them either, their strengths lie with each other, not going up against somebody who is unproven and needs to improve vastly to make any impact with them. Eva Marie can be a star, she has the perfect look to succeed, all she needs to do is keep improving, and her rewards will come, it won’t matter if she’s a heel or a face.

If the WWE are serious about Eva Marie, and they’ll invest in her, they need to think about how they’ll fix her, and they’ll need to do it quick. If they waste glorious opportunities, there won’t be any way back for her when it comes to wrestling.
