Stacey Flounders, the former partner of Adam Johnson, visited the disgraced former Sunderland and England footballer in prison for the first time on Friday.

Johnson was sentenced to six years behind bars at Armley Prison last month after being convicted of grooming and sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl.

Flounders visited Johnson alongside the footballer’s father and sister, sparking rumours that she could get back together with the 28-year-old.

It’s been revealed that Johnson “burst into tears” after he was reunited with Flounders.

And according to surprise reports, pals of the former couple believe they could get back together.

Johnson 'burst into tears' after seeing Stacey

A source told the Sun on Sunday, per the Mirror: "Adam burst into tears as soon as he saw Stacey and the emotion was running pretty high.

"They obviously still care for each other greatly and it was probably too much for him to take after the reality of his six-year sentence.

"It has hit him really hard and he thinks he's been unfairly hit because of who he is."

Stacey plans on taking daughter with her to prison

Flounders regularly attended Bradford Crown Court with Johnson, but revealed they were no longer a couple during the trial.

They have a young daughter, 14-month-old Ayla, and Flounders reportedly plans on taking her to visit her father in prison.

It was revealed last week, by The Sun, that Johnson - who is currently on suicide watch - has told friends that seeing his baby daughter is the “only way” he will survive his six-year sentence.

But it could be a little while longer before Johnson sees Ayla.

“Stacey’s unsure whether to take Ayla into the prison straight away,” a friend revealed last week. “She’s being urged by family and friends not to rush into a decision because it not being the right place for a young child.

“But Adam told her before and while in prison he needs to see her for his own sanity and wants to be a proper dad.”
