Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has revealed that Michael Carrick is determined to win the Premier League title this season.

As per the club's official site, the Spanish ace, who has endured a mixed couple of years at Old Trafford, has revealed that he's spoken to Carrick over the importance of the FA Cup.

Louis van Gaal's side are set to travel to Upton Park on Wednesday night to take on the Hammers in their quarter-final replay clash.

The Red Devils just about stayed in the competition after Frenchman Anthony Martial struck a late equaliser in the contest between the two sides at the Theatre of Dreams last month.

United, then, still stand a chance of securing a place at Wembley and it appears that, according to Herrera, Carrick is determined to win the competition this season.

Herrera speaks out

Herrera told MUTV: "I know how important the FA Cup is for our fans. We don’t have players in the dressing room who have won it for United.

"I was talking to Michael Carrick about it and he told me he wants to win and get to Wembley. We realise how important it is for us as players and for our fans to get a trophy.

"In the Premier League you show your balance but in the cup you show your spirit and your desire to win. The FA Cup is a big competition, it’s very emotional.

"If we beat West Ham we’ll have the chance to play at Wembley, which is a fantastic stadium. I have a lot of things in mind about being there and we have a big chance to be there, but of course West Ham away is not easy."

Man United must win

There should be absolutely no underestimating this fixture for Manchester United. The club's first-team stars have flattered to deceive for far too long and can't afford to succumb to defeat on Wednesday evening.

As the transition period continues in Manchester, a trophy is clearly required. A place in the top four now appears to be unlikely, but winning the FA Cup will help the club in the pursuit of redemption.

There is clearly a long way to go at Old Trafford, but silverware this season will help the club come out of this testing time.
