Steven Gerrard pays Hillsborough tribute during LA Galaxy match

Steven Gerrard was in superb form as LA Galaxy secured an impressive 4-1 victory over Houston Dynamo in the MLS.

As you can see in the video below, the former Liverpool captain produced one sublime assist for the Galaxy. 

And it was a special night for Gerrard, who wore a black armband to salute Liverpool's Hillsborough memorial.

In fact, the former England international has insisted that it was an emotional night for him, claiming that the three points were extra special.

Following the game, as per the Liverpool Echo, the 35-year-old stated: “It was a very emotional night for me tonight with the Hillsborough memorial back home.

“I asked the referee if I could wear an armband to salute everyone back home and pay my respects. It was emotional night and that’s why the three points are extra special.”

Gerrard will no doubt be keeping an eye on his former side as they go in search of securing Europa League success this season. The Reds' remarkable comeback against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night was truly something special and there's no reason why Jurgen Klopp's side won't be able to go all the way in the competition.
