Jason Cummings takes terrible panenka penalty

Scoring a panenka penalty is quite something. It must be a beautiful sight watching the ball float into the back of the net.

What's not such a great sight, however, is watching your panenka penalty sail over the cross bar.

Step up, Jason Cummings: the Hibs forward opted to take the stylish spot kick during his side's Scottish Cup semi-final clash against Dundee United - and it completely backfired.

As you can see below, with the scores level at 0-0, Cummings' penalty went horribly, horribly wrong.

Unsurprisingly, the forward has been absolutely destroyed on social media and you can see the best reaction.

Here's the penalty and response on Twitter:

Tie ongoing

As it stands, Cumming's miss could still cost his side. With 10 minutes gone in extra-time, there's still nothing to separate the two teams.

If his side crash out, it's safe to say that it will be a day Cummings will never forget for all the wrong reasons. Let's hope for his sake, his side progress to the final. He will probably be more nervous than anyone at this stage.

Update (it's a truly brilliant one)

Quite incredibly, Cummings has just scored the winning penalty in the shootout. That's right, Hibs secured a 4-2 shootout win and have booked their place in the final.
