Cesc Fabregas names Gilberto Silva and Mathieu Flamini as the best midfielders he's played with

He’s played for Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona - as well as World Cup and European Championship-winning Spain sides - so it’s far to say Cesc Fabregas has had some pretty impressive teammates.

So picking the best midfielder he’s played alongside must be a nigh on impossible task.

Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Xabi Alonso have all played with Fabregas in the middle of the park so picking the most talented one must be tough.

But the Chelsea midfielder made an incredibly baffling choice.

When asked, Fabregas told The Football Daily: “I had two years playing along Flamini. Maybe because I was physically very, very good he covered so much ground.”

“If I had to choose one it would be between Gilberto Silva and Flamini,” he added.

Really, Fabregas? Really!?

What about his former Barcelona teammates?

“If I say Iniesta or Xavi, yeah they’re fantastic for the eyes but real football, it’s not real for me.”

So, let’s get this right. Iniesta, who has won seven La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, two European Championships and a World Cup has been snubbed for Flamini who has won three FA Cups and a Serie A title.

Flamini is set to leave the Emirates at the end of the season with his contract expiring while Iniesta is on the brink on completing a domestic double at Camp Nou.

At least Gilberto Silva managed one Premier League title and a World Cup during his less than illustrious career.
