Jurgen Klopp can't find the words to describe Anfield atmosphere

Jurgen Klopp has hailed the Liverpool fans for creating a "special" atmosphere at Anfield and has backed them to do the very same thing against Villarreal on Thursday night.

The Kop was in full voice for the Borussia Dortmund game in the quarter-finals in which Dejan Lovren scored a last-minute goals to complete a memorable comeback.

The capacity crowd were widely credited with keeping the team's spirits up after the German team had raced into a 2-0 lead on the night.

Once again, they will be asked to be the proverbial 12th man in their Europa League semi-final, in which they must overturn a 1-0 deficit against an impressive Villarreal side.

But Klopp is not worried about the fans not turning up. To him, the Anfield atmosphere is one of the "most special" things about managing Liverpool, saying it is one of those things another club cannot buy.

Special atmosphere

“I don’t have enough words for this,” Klopp told reporters. "It’s one of the things in life you cannot buy. It’s most special.

“These moments when you really know we’re all together. Not only the crowd in the stadium—at home [too]. It’s a moment, I don’t want to make it too big, but it’s a moment for the whole Liverpool world. Everyone will watch it.”

Last chance saloon

Thursday's game will signify more than just a Europa League semi-final for Liverpool. With little at stake in the Premier League, winning Uefa's second-tier competition will make sure a difficult season ends on a very positive note.

“We are ready, all we did since October we did to be perfectly prepared for a game like this tomorrow.”

Klopp continued: “We have 95 minutes between now and saying congratulations to whoever. This game is a big opportunity in a difficult season for Liverpool. In October Liverpool changed manager. Something went wrong before then.

“We’ve only had two really bad games: Watford and now Swansea. This team is building up consistency, step by step. I don’t know how far we are on our way. This team, these players gave me very positive signs about their quality.

“We are ready, all we did since October we did to be perfectly prepared for a game like this tomorrow.”

Breaking down Villarreal

Having lost the first-leg 1-0, an away goal would leave Liverpool needing three on the night, but Klopp says he saw enough of Marcelino García Toral's side to be feeling confident going into the tie. He is, however, under no illusions as to how difficult it will be.

He said: “We know about the style of Villarreal. It doesn’t change often. It’s a really well-tuned team. They changed eight positions and won at Valencia. That’s not too easy.

“Because of this quality, I was satisfied with our first leg. Not a good result, but a good feeling."
