Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has produced a beautiful gesture for a terminally ill fan.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the England international, who has been out on the sidelines since September with a broken leg, has offered to give the elderly fan with a brain tumour tickets to next month's FA Cup final at Wembley.

The Red Devils are set to play Crystal Palace on May 21 and William Moore, 80, could be handed the chance to see Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and co. in action.

The report, meanwhile, claims that fans of United have even offered to give up their own seats and provide transport for William to and from Wembley.

William was diagnosed with an aggressive and terminal brain tumour just three weeks ago and his three daughters have since tried to secure tickets to the upcoming final.

Shaw gesture

While the story is an extremely sad one, it's certainly nice to see a professional using his status in the right way.

William’s daughter Lorraine Phillips, 45, stated: “I’m completely overwhelmed and a little bit star-struck that someone from the team has come along to help.

“I can’t believe the amount of people coming forward. It’s just remarkable when there is an allocation of just 28,000 tickets that people are willing to give up their seats for us. It’s wonderful. Their generosity astounds me.

“Dad will be in floods of tears when I tell him.”

As you can imagine, Manchester United supporters have paid tribute to Shaw for the kind gesture.

FA Cup showdown

The FA Cup showdown may well come too early for Shaw, but it appears that he is making good progress ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

United fans will be desperate to see him return to the field of play after such a lengthy absence. Before his injury, he was arguably the club's leading player, so Louis van Gaal and co. will be hoping to see him get back to his best.

At such a young age, there's no reason why he won't have an extremely bright career ahead of him at Old Trafford.
