Roman Reigns vs AJ Styles feud to run until Money in the Bank

The main event of WWE Payback was one for the fans, as AJ Styles was given a chance to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns.

After the match stipulation was changed twice, once by Shane McMahon after the former Shield member was counted out, and once more by Stephanie McMahon after Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows attacked The Big Dog, Reigns pinned Styles to retain his title.

This decision was received with - as expected - boos by the crowd in attendance inside Allstate Arena in Chicago, despite the two actually having a good wrestling match. The only let down was the story telling. However, The Phenomenal One has been given another opportunity to win the championship at a later date.

Before the pay-per-view event had finished, the newly empowered McMahon brother and sister duo announced another clash between the two at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view on May 22 in an Extreme Rules match.

Yet, there is even more good news for the WWE Universe as this feud has been speculated to go on beyond the Extreme Rules event.

According to Cageside Seats: "The Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles program is expected to last up to the Money in the Bank event."

This well and truly goes against what fans originally thought when Styles made his debut on the WWE roster back at the Royal Rumble earlier this year in January; that he was never going to be given multiple shots at the WWE title due to being a prominent figure in other wrestling organizations.

If this is true, the former TNA star will have not one, not two, but three shots at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship around the time which he reaches six months since he made his debut on the main roster. An incredible achievement for someone who many thought would just be in the shadows because of his wrestling history with other promotions.

For this feud to extend to a third match, this will likely mean that something of significance will happen at Extreme Rules later this month. We can't be certain what this might be at this present moment of time, but the majority of WWE fans will be hoping that it is due to Styles winning the title.

Perhaps this could mean either The Phenomenal One or The Big Dog could win/retain the championship unfairly, leading to either Shane or Stephanie to call for one final match at Money in the Bank.

Either way, fans will be excited to hear Styles may have another opportunity to win the biggest prize on offer in the WWE.
