John Cena to face Shinsuke Nakamura at WWE Hawaii show

John Cena has been out of action for around five months now.

The 39-year-old suffered a shoulder injury while lifting weights in a gym and was forced to sit out for months while recovering from surgery to repair his torn labrum. That surgery caused him to miss having a match at WrestleMania 32. Instead, Cena was only healthy enough to save The Rock from a potential beatdown by The Wyatt Family.

However, 'Big Match John' is finally going to be making his post-injury return at the end of this month, and it seems that he already has one match lined up. It is a big one!

According to some reports that have been doing the rounds this morning, Cena is going to be facing Shinsuke Nakamura - yes, actual bloody Shinsuke Nakamura.

During tonight’s Raw, a commercial aired locally in Honolulu announcing that Brock Lesnar’s opponent at the live event taking place on June 29th at the Neal Blaisdell Arena will be Kevin Owens," Wrestle Zone stated.

"The commercial also included the announcement of John Cena vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the first time ever."

Cena vs Nakamura and Lesnar vs Owens weren't the only matches stated for the event in Hawaii, as it was apparently stated that the current WWE Women's Champion Charlotte will be taking on the current NXT Women's Champion, Asuka.

A release from the arena's website gave some more information on the event.

"For the 1st time in nearly 7 years, WWE LIVE will make a stop at Honolulu’s Blaisdell Arena on Wed, June 29, 2016," it reads. "This will be your chance to see your favorite WWE Superstars and Divas LIVE! SEE: Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt, New Day, Kevin Owens, The Usos, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka, Charlotte plus many more!"

That release is dated April 25, which means that it is over two weeks old, and that can explain why it doesn't include Cena and Lesnar on the card. It does, however, have Nakamura, Owens, Charlotte and Asuka all down to be performing.

With both Lesnar and Cena scheduled to be performing, there is no way this event will remain just a simple house show. It will almost certainly become a WWE Network Special - there are just too many good matches to give away here.

This honestly feels like it could be some sort of NXT vs WWE event, with the two womens champs going one-on-one as well as NXT's biggest star in Nakamura facing the WWE's biggest star in Cena. Let's hope all these matches actually happen.
