Footage has emerged of the Manchester United players hitting the floor of the coach after their coach was pelted with bottles by West Ham fans before tonight’s Premier League match at Upton Park.

Jesse Lingard filmed the incident from his phone and it’s now found its way on to social media.

The players can be heard shouting “oh sh*t!” and laughing - it’s clear that they tried to make a joke out of what must have been a scary situation. (Scroll down this page to watch the video).

Wayne Rooney criticises West Ham fans

Wayne Rooney, United’s captain, criticised the West Ham fans for attacking the coach.

He told Sky Sports: “It wasn’t nice. The coach got smashed up, but we’re here now, so have to prepare for the game and go out and do our job.”

“I’m sure you’ll see the images. That’s not for me to say, but I think it was disappointing of course.

“We know it’s a big game for West Ham, big night for them, leaving the stadium, but I’m sure West Ham as a club will be disappointed with what the fans have done.”

Van Gaal: The images tell everything

Louis van Gaal, meanwhile, added: "What do I have to tell? The images tell everything. I have seen also the police were taping. It is also a lot of emotions for people but for us it is the second time in London we have to start later. It is better than last time because we have received our preparation time.

"It is not the first time I have seen that. It is not so nice. The way we have been received is not the proper way of course. That makes all the influence on the players and that is a pity."

West Ham currently lead 1-0, thanks to an early strike by Diafra Sakho.
