Christian Benteke saves point for Liverpool against Chelsea

Belgium international Christain Benteke scored in stoppage time to secure a point for Liverpool against Chelsea in the Premier League this evening. 

The former Aston Villa forward came off the bench to head home following a cross from Sheyi Ojo.

As you can see in the video below, Blues goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, who replaced Thibaut Courtois between the sticks for the clash, was at fault as his mistake handed Benteke the perfect opportunity to score.

Benteke's long-term future on Merseyside is in doubt after a difficult debut campaign, but perhaps his late goal at Anfield will give manager Jurgen Klopp something to think about ahead of the summer transfer window. 

In all honesty, Liverpool were lucky to escape with a point after a below-par display against Chelsea. 

Late goal saves Liverpool 

Guus Hiddink's side produced a solid performance against the Reds and should have secured maximum points. 

Eden Hazard, who has endured a torrid season, was at his sublime best and netted a wonderful opener for the Blues. The dynamic midfielder was brilliant throughout and comfortably the best player on the pitch during proceedings. 

Despite a difficult night for Liverpool, they will be pleased to have continued their momentum ahead of next week's Europa League final.
