Franz Beckenbauer has insisted that Bayern Munich ace Mario Gotze should go where he feels comfortable and follow Jurgen Klopp to Liverpool this summer.

After a tricky season in the Bundesliga, Gotze has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield, but it's far from certain as to whether the Reds' hierarchy will make a move.

Gotze, 23, has played in just 14 Bundesliga games this season, but could yet be offered a shot at redemption with Carlo Ancelotti set to replace Pep Guardiola at the helm in Munich.

But Beckenbauer thinks it's time for the technically gifted star to move on and has tipped him to complete a move to Liverpool.

"I would, in his place, go to a place where I feel comfortable," Beckenbauer told Sky Deutschland, as per the Metro.

Gotze to Liverpool

"I have the impression that Mario has not felt right in Munich and also has not been understood, so that he could show his full potential.

"I would in his place go where I am comfortable and follow in the footsteps of Jurgen Klopp."

In all honesty, it's likely that the saga involving Gotze and Liverpool will go on for some time to come, but he would most definitely prove a fine coup for the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp is clearly changing the dynamic at Liverpool and the addition of Gotze would only help the club in their pursuit of long-term success.
