Samoa Joe and Finn Balor are headlining act, with Joe defending the NXT Championship inside of a steel cage with the loser expected to move up to the main roster. However, two more matches have been confirmed on the tapings which should set the tone off in an entertaining fashion.

The first episode will air on May 25 with the final episode set to air on the WWE Network on June 1. The NXT format sees the talent tape numerous shows in one evening before they are rolled out to air on a weekly basis. It's William Regal who kicks off the taping with some bad news for Bayley fans, revealing that she isn’t cleared to compete after her loss to Nia Jax – which aired this week.

This means that Bayley’s obligatory rematch for Asuka’s NXT Championship won’t be taking place at TakeOver. Instead, it’s announced that there will be a triple threat match in the main event where Nia Jax takes on Carmella and Alexa Bliss, with the winner advancing to the championship match on June 8.

Next, it’s Austin Aries hitting the ring and delivers a promo regarding the NXT Championship, and how he wants to be the champion once the feud between Joe and Balor culminates at TakeOver.

However, he isn’t the only one looking for an opportunity as Shinsuke Nakamura interrupts him and wants a title shot of his own. This prompts Regal to come out once more and announces a match between the pair for TakeOver.

In the first of two televised bouts taking place, No Way Jose continues his hot start to life on NXT by defeating Johny Vandal. It’s reported to be a comedic match with the crowd really behind Jose with plenty of chants.

It’s triple threat action next, and it’s Nia Jax who will go on to compete against Asuka at TakeOver, and this is reported to be a good main event match for television. Jax won the match by hitting her leg drop and cleared the ring after her victory, as the show ended with Asuka and Nia face to face with the Women’s Championship.

EPISODE #2 - JUNE 1 2016

In the final episode before TakeOver, it’s The Revival who kick off the show by hyping up their NXT Tag Team Championship match against American Alpha. They’re cut off by the highly popular team of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, who want in on the championships.

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder tell them to “go back to the bingo halls” before they eat dropkicks as they run away; a main event tag team match is set between the two teams.

Tye Dillinger finally picks up a win in the first match of the second episode, defeating Murphy, who didn’t have Blake or Alexa Bliss by his side. This was quickly followed by Aries picking up a win over Elias Samson, who is said to have received a lot of heat from the fans with this gimmick.

It’s then the contract signing segment between Asuka and Nia Jax with both women coming to the ring in their casual attire while Asuka didn’t wear her traditional face paint either.

Nia Jax talks about how she’s not afraid of Asuka and talks about how she broke Bayley, claiming to be the most dominance force to come for the championship to date. Asuka signs the contract and tells Nia that she talks too much, and she should be scared of her.

As expected with any contract signing, the two end up brawling but it’s the challenger who gets the upper hand heading into the TakeOver, hitting Asuka with a powerbomb.

There’s a surprising result in the main event as Gargano and Ciampa defeat The Revival, not based on talent, but the fact that The Revival are going to compete for the NXT Tag Team Championships the following week.

The number one contenders attack the faces after the match, to negative reactions from the fans, and hit Ciampa with the Shatter Machine. The show ends with American Alpha rushing to the ring and brawling with Dash and Dawson.
