Juan Mata equalised within three minutes of Manchester United going behind in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Jason Puncheon had put Palace in front with a finish from a difficult angle, but Mata made sure United were still in it with a fine finish.

Wayne Rooney was instrumental, driving through the middle before Marouane Fellaini chested the ball down to the feet of Mata.

Palace's celebrations - which included a cheeky dance from Alan Pardew - had not lasted long, but Mata's goal at least lit up what had thus far been an uneventful cup final.

Louis van Gaal then replaced Mata with Jesse Lingard in injury time.

United were lucky to still be in the game after a number of questionable decisions from Mark Clattenburg which perhaps prevented Palace going in front.
