Rumored opponents for The New Day at WWE MITB and SummerSlam

The New Day successfully defended the WWE Tag Team Championship at Extreme Rules last weekend against The Vaudevillians.

Including this their second reign as champions, they have now held onto the tag team titles for over 325 days combined over those two reigns, and they are closing in on the longest combined reign ever held in the WWE. They're only a couple of days off surpassing Paul London and Brian Kendrick who had 331 days as tag team champions.

WWE has allowed The New Day to be themselves since they won the titles in a fatal four-way match against The Prime Time Players, The Lucha Dragons, and Los Matadores at SummerSlam last year.

The New Day members - Big E, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston - have established themselves as the best tag team in the company today. They're unlikely to lose the tag team championship until a worthy team that can be a good successor comes along.

They're unlikely to lose their titles anytime soon, and Cageside Seats have speculated who their opponent for Money in the Bank pay-per-view next month on June 19.

They said: "New Day vs. Social Outcasts could be the next tag team title program but Enzo & Big Cass are in plans for SummerSlam."

What this means is we could expect to see The New Day vs The Social Outcasts at Money in the Bank and Battleground, before Big E, Woods, and Kingston go on to defend the titles against Enzo Amore and Big Cass at SummerSlam.

SummerSlam will probably be the event which The New Day will lose the tag team titles as it will mark almost a year since they gained the championship in the first place. By the time SummerSlam's date of August 21, they would have surpassed London and Kendrick for the longest time period holding onto the titles in WWE history.

Better yet, Amore and Cass are worthy opponents for The New Day to lose the titles to. Since they debuted on the main roster the night after WrestleMania, they have been a hit with the WWE Universe. Cass was even able to keep this fan support when Amore was out for just over three weeks with a concussion.

There is going to be a huge pop if Amore and Cass win the titles at SummerSlam as it will be their first championship in the WWE despite being a big hit in NXT. They will be worthy champions and this could start an amazing feud between them and The New Day that spreads into the latter part of the year.
