Will Mario Gotze join Liverpool? Will he stay put at Bayern Munich? Who knows anymore.
It would seem the German has opted to remain at the Allianz Arena if recent reports are to be believed, but there’s a sense the transfer saga is far from over.
Liverpool fans hold hope that Gotze could yet reunite with Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, but for now, they might have to come to terms with the fact he won’t be arriving this summer.

That notion becomes all the more prevalent when Joachim Low’s recent comments on the attacking midfielder’s situation are taken into account.
According to the Germany national team boss, Gotze contemplated leaving but was convinced otherwise by incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti.
He said at a recent press conference, per the Liverpool Echo: “I’ve been in contact with Mario and he’s kept me informed all the time.
“He’s had a long talk with Ancelotti and I think a few falsities were said about that, but a coach can never give a guarantee and he told Mario that everybody starts from scratch from the start of the season under him.
“Mario has had offers, but I always felt he is in Munich with his heart and he wants to prove himself there.
“He told me he wants to stay in Munich and take his chance with the new coach and I think that’s a fine decision because it’s what his feeling tells him to do, so it’s the right decision for him.”
Well, that might just be that.
But fear not Liverpool fans, football is an unpredictable mistress - anything can happen.
An exciting summer awaits them regardless after what was a promising first season under Klopp.
The eccentric German boss prised the best out of the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana, with two or three signings needed to launch a Premier League title bid next term.
They’ve made a solid start to the summer transfer window too, following the recent signing of Loris Karius from Mainz for £4.7 million.
Schalke defender Joel Matip is also on his way to Anfield as Klopp seeks to bolster his leaky defence.
And it seems another talent could arrive on Merseyside in the coming weeks if reports from Portuguese outlet A Bola are anything to go by.
According to the source, Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Porto winger Yacine Brahimi in a deal worth £45 million - a club record.
