It was reported earlier this week that Jose Mourinho wanted to break Manchester United’s transfer record in order to reunite with Willian at Old Trafford this summer.
Angel di Maria is currently United’s most expensive signing - the Argentina international, who flopped in the Premier League under the management of Louis van Gaal, cost £59.7 million back in 2014 - but The Sun believe Mourinho wants the Red Devils to splash out a cool £60 million in order to sign the Brazil international ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.
Willian was signed by Mourinho from Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer of 2013 and was Chelsea’s standout player in the months prior to the Portuguese coach’s sacking at Stamford Bridge last December.

The Daily Mail have obtained information that Antoine Conte, Chelsea’s newly-appointed head coach, will reject any offers for the South American winger.
However, according to the Guardian’s Manchester football correspondent Jamie Jackson, Willian “wants the move” to Old Trafford.
Willian 'wants move' to United
“Mourinho wants Ibrahimovic and Willian for #mufc and each player wants the move, too…” the journalist tweeted on Friday morning.
Willian is a Jose Mourinho-type winger
Willian scored 11 goals in all competitions for Chelsea this season - five of which were netted in the Premier League - and possesses the qualities that Mourinho looks for in an attack-minded winger.
As Sam Wallace stated in a piece for the Telegraph this week, Mourinho still “likes his wingers to be strong and quick, and track back as well as bomb on”. Six months of football hasn’t changed his outlook on the game.
Juan Mata, on the other hand...
Willian ticks all the boxes for United’s new manager but Juan Mata, however, does not.
The Spaniard has featured regularly on United’s right flank since Mourinho sold him to the Red Devils while managing Chelsea in January 2014, but he’s not particularly strong or quick.
Mata could be forgiven if he felt pessimistic about his future as a Manchester United player.
Willian is also a set-piece specialist
As well as his qualities as a winger, Willian is also something of a set-piece specialist.
The 27-year-old, who is part of Brazil’s Copa America squad, scored six free-kicks in all competitions this season - two more than any other Premier League player.
