Cristiano Ronaldo may have been fairly anonymous during the 120 minutes during the Champions League final but he was always going to have his say.

The Portuguese superstar was an injury doubt heading into the match and barely threatened the Atleti defence.

But, after a 1-1 draw after extra-time, the match went into the lottery of penalties. Step forward, Ronaldo.

With seven successful kicks, the pressure was all on Juanfran for Diego Simeone’s side. He dragged his effort onto the post, leaving Ronaldo with the task to win Los Blanco’s eleventh Champions League.

He duly delivered sparking wild celebrations for the men in white.

Watch the moment that Real Madrid won the 2015/16 Champions League final below:

Sergio Ramos had given Zidane’s side the lead after 15 minutes. However, replays suggested the Spaniard was offside from Gareth Bale’s flick-on from Toni Kroos’ free-kick.

Atleti had the perfect opportunity to draw level just three minutes after half-time when Pepe went through the back of Fernando Torres in the penalty box.

However, Antoine Griezmann wasn’t able to punish Pepe as he blasted his spot-kick against the bar.

Atleti finally grabbed a deserved equaliser when Yannick Carrasco scored from Juanfran’s cross.

With both sides tiring, penalties looked inevitable and that was the case with very little chances in extra-time.

And it was left to Ronaldo to seal an unprecedented eleventh Champions League trophy for Real Madrid.
