If there’s anything to take from Jose Mourinho’s recent appointment as Manchester United manager, it’s that a squad overhaul is imminent.

A host of world-class European stars have been linked with the Red Devils in recent days amidst a dire need for new additions at Old Trafford.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly close to completing a move, while Karim Benzema, John Stones and Raphael Varane - among many, many others - are rumoured targets.

And now, The Sun has revealed that Mourinho wants Juventus’ Paul Pogba as part of the new-look spine he has planned.

The same report also claims that three “huge” signings are being lined up by the Portuguese manager, who wants a new striker, central midfielder and centre-back this summer.

How United could do with a player of Pogba’s quality in the centre of the park. Fast, powerful and deadly from range, the France international possesses all the qualities currently amiss at the Theatre of Dreams.

He wouldn’t come cheap, of course, but rumours suggest that Juve have “informally” made their 23-year-old star available for a summer move.

Mourinho will also be given “complete backing” in the transfer window by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward; money won’t be an issue for the 53-year-old.

Exciting times certainly lie ahead for the 20-time league champions, especially so if their new manager is able to convince Ibrahimovic to join him.

The 34-year-old striker is a free agent this summer and, if reports are to be believed, keen on reuniting with Mourinho, who he played under at Inter Milan.
