Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has an interest in joining Premier League outfit Liverpool this summer.

This has been reported by the Mirror, who claim that the 28-year-old is prepared to leave Italy behind in the upcoming transfer window.

Higuain enjoyed a prominent campaign in Serie A, netting 36 goals in 35 outings but failed to guide his side to the title.

In fact, Higuain has an impressive tally of 71 goals in 104 league games for Napoli, but it's far from certain as to whether Liverpool are going to make a move for him.

The same report suggests that the former Real Madrid man is keen to arrive in the Premier League and would like to link up with Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

Liverpool changes

Indeed, it appears that the striker hasn't been put off by Liverpool's failure to secure European football for the 2016/17 campaign.

It certainly looks set to be an interesting period for Higuain, who has also attracted interest from Manchester United.

It's safe to say that Reds chief Klopp has a number of decisions to make in the transfer window; adding a new striker to his ranks would change the dynamic of his squad, while it's uncertain as to whether Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge will stay on at the club.

Both players have had their issues under Klopp and could yet depart in the immediate future.
