It’s been a topsy-turvy week for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

The Wales international was handed the famous No.8 shirt last Thursday following Mikel Arteta’s departure, but on what should have been a momentous occasion, he was ridiculed.

Arsenal fans were by and large disappointed that Ramsey had been given such an iconic jersey following a season where he failed to deliver.

Others were slightly more brutal in their reaction, with some insisting the box-to-box midfielder should be sold rather than given a new number.

However, criticism for the Welshman has just gone from bad to worse - and on this occasion, it’s through his own doing.

In the picture below, Ramsey can be seen sporting a new haircut that’s bold to say the least.

And here’s how football fans brutally reacted on Twitter.

Not exactly the reaction Ramsey probably expected or wanted.

The 25-year-old certainly has some making up to do, with his performances for Arsenal last season lacklustre.

Five goals and four assists in 31 Premier League appearances is a poor return for a player who tore defences apart during the 2013/14 campaign.

Injuries certainly haven’t helped, of course, but the simple fact of the matter is that Ramsey must improve if he’s to establish himself as a starter for Arsenal next term.

The recent arrival of Granit Xhaka - who is an excellent signing for the Gunners - means there’s greater competition for places, especially so given Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny and Jack Wilshere will also by vying for a starting berth.

One way or another, Ramsey needs to rediscover his best football if he’s to get fans back on his side.
