Kevin Owens has been part of the WWE since he was signed to the company back in August 2014. Since making his debut in NXT in December later that year, wherever Owens has gone, he has always made an impact.
Whether that be turning heel on his best friend Sami Zayn, or defeating John Cena in his debut match on the main roster, the headlines have always followed The Prizefighter wherever he has gone. However, many thought it was never going to be like that for Owens, especially in the WWE.
Speaking on the Talk is Jericho podcast, WWE superstar Seth Rollins said he has been friends with Owens for years, but he never thought he would be a part of the WWE because he doesn’t have the WWE style or look.

Rollins said: “I’ve always loved Kevin. I’ve been friends with him for years. I think his work is great but even his work people were like ‘oh that’s not the WWE style, he doesn’t have the WWE look, yeah the kid can cut a promo’…
“The fact the guy has been getting opportunities (along with) Sami Zayn and Apollo Crews and myself, people forget I’m lumped into that, I’m in that generation too. I just think that’s awesome. It’s really refreshing to have that but at the same time there’s only so many spots.”
The Architect returned to the WWE at the end of Extreme Rules after being off since November with a knee injury. The landscape of the company has changed since he’s been out with new superstars from NXT being promoted to the main roster such as Sami Zayn, Apollo Crews, and Enzo Amore and Big Cass, ushering in the New Era.
Later, WWE announced that the brand extension was on the horizon after they announced SmackDown will be moved to Tuesday nights and be broadcast out live with the promise as well that Raw and SmackDown will have unique rosters.
Jericho and Rollins stated on the podcast that the point of the business is to always bring in new talent. They claimed Triple H is the reason why guys like Owens from the independent scene have been given opportunities in the WWE. He’s helped guys that probably never would have been given opportunities in the WWE to be given a shot.
Now K.O. is on the verge of getting another shot in the Money in the Bank ladder match. He’s the odds-on favorite to win the match and his fantastic in-ring ability and excellent promo skills shows he is deserving of the shot.
If Owens does win on June 19, he will be one of the headline acts on either roster. He is deserving of a main event push and the Money in the Bank briefcase will give him exactly that. He is a worthy WWE World Heavyweight Champion and when he finally does win the title, he will rewrite history forever and the description of what style and look is needed to be successful in the WWE.
