Jamie Vardy’s wife, Rebekah Vardy, has received an abundance of abuse after news broke of the Leicester City striker’s reported move to Arsenal.

Leicester fans, seemingly upset that their star player looks set to join the north London club, have attacked Rebekah on Twitter.

She has responded on Twitter, calling for fans not to come at her because she has “nothing whatsoever to do with calling the shots” in her husband’s career.

Stuart James, a football journalist for The Guardian, broke the news on Friday evening that the Gunners have triggered Vardy’s release clause, rumoured to be £20 million.

The Daily Mail claim that Arsenal expect to complete the deal in the next 24 hours.

It will mean Leicester lose the man who fired them to Premier League glory with 24 goals.

Naturally, their fans are upset. But the abuse Mrs Vardy has received is unacceptable.

She retorted: “Listen LCFC fans don't come at me with abuse! I have nothing whatsoever to do with calling the shots in my husband's career! Its unfair.”

But, not one to let a bunch of trolls ruin her day, she quickly added: “Right I'm off for a nice family day with my lot can crack on! Enjoy your day everyone.”

Hodgson's demands

The Mail’s report adds that England manager Roy Hodgson doesn’t want his players to be discussing potential moves or undergoing medicals during Euro 2016, hence the reason for Arsenal’s eagerness to get the deal completed quickly.

As reporter Simon Collings points out, it’s serendipitous that England’s players are staying at The Grove hotel in Watford, which is 20 minutes from Arsenal’s training ground.

Vardy, 29, is reportedly seeking a four-year deal worth over £100,000-a-week. As electric a player he proved himself to be this past year, Arsenal fans are still desperate for Arsene Wenger to sign a young, exciting forward in the transfer window.
