With every passing day, Jamie Vardy looks more and more likely to complete his reported move to Arsenal.

The Leicester City striker’s £20 million release clause has been triggered by Arsene Wenger following a season where he scored 24 Premier League goals en route to winning the title.

Speculation has since swirled around a potential transfer, with some suggesting Vardy would jump at a move to Arsenal, whilst others believe he will remain at the King Power Stadium.

However, after scoring a brace for France against Scotland on Saturday, Olivier Giroud has sensationally claimed that Vardy wants to join him in north London this summer.

Watch what the striker had to say below, per Sky Sports.

"I have been told that Jamie wants to join us and it's very good news for us," he said.

“I think we can be complimentary and that’s all I can say. He’s a fantastic player, so it’s good news for us.”

Vardy’s potential arrive at the Emirates Stadium would undoubtedly put Giroud’s starting spot at risk, yet he welcomes the competition.

“As I said in the past I am happy with competition,” the 29-year-old added. “We have always had fantastic strikers at Arsenal and I want the best for this club.

“Hopefully he is going to help us win this title.

“The boss wanted to sign at least one or two strikers, so I expected a top striker and I think it will benefit the club and hopefully he is going to score a lot of goals like he did at Leicester.”
