Cometh the hour, cometh the man.
Gareth Bale was tipped to star for Wales at Euro 2016 and it was the Real Madrid forward who put Wales 1-0 up against Slovakia in their first major international tournament match for 58 years.
The 26-year-old lined up the free-kick from 30 yards and managed to beat Slovakia’s goalkeeper Matúš Kozáčik, who will feel he should have better. (Scroll down this page to watch Bale’s free-kick).

Kozáčik took a step to his left just as Bale took his shot - and this proved costly.
Bale has now scored six goals in his last seven starts for Wales, whose previous goal at a major tournament came 21,179 days ago - back in June 1958 - according to Squawka.

Bale to win Golden Boot?
Bale was 50/1 to finish as the top goalscorer at Euro 2016 before a ball was kicked this summer.
His odds have now shortened considerably, with some bookmakers offering as little as 14/1 for the former Tottenham star to win the coveted Golden Boot accolade.
