At NXT Takeover: The End, a new tag team was introduced into the brand.
The team consisted of two big men, drastically different from the tag teams that have dominated the NXT Tag Team Championship scene for the past year, such as The Revival, American Alpha, Enzo & Cass, and The Vaudevillains.
Aptly, NXT’s tag line for their latest Takeover event was ushered in by the new tag team, who took out American Alpha. Jason Jordan, a member of American Alpha, is the last remaining member of the original NXT roster from June 2012.

Although the tag team name was not used during their unexpected attack on American Alpha following their championship defeat, the duo has been going by the name of “Authors of Pain” since their debut in April at a live event.
One half of the dominant pair is Sunny Dhinsa, a Canadian amateur wrestler who won a silver medal at the 2011 Pan-American Games in the 120-kilogram Freestyle event. Completing the team is Gzim Selmani, a former MMA fighter dubbed “The Albanian Psycho” with a record of 4-2 in his career.
Perhaps more shocking than the assault, however, is the appearance of legendary manager, Paul Ellering, famed for his long-time management of the Road Warriors, as well as the Legion of Doom.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011 alongside the Road Warriors, after retiring as a manager in 2002.
Ellering stood on the stage as the Authors of Pain walked calmly towards him, undoubtedly promoting an alliance between the two parties. His involvement clearly shows that WWE is very high on this new tag team.
Fans had seemingly forgotten all about Ellering, with chants of “Who are you?” breaking out in the arena. After some research by the WWE Universe, however, the fans will surely recognize him when he makes his next appearance alongside the Authors of Pain.
The New Era of NXT promises to be bigger and greater than ever before, and the Authors of Pain will be one of many trying to epitomize the brand’s dreams.
