Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to swap defender Matteo Darmian for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic.

This has been reported by the Mirror, who claim that the Old Trafford boss has drawn up a list of players he wants to bring to the club in this transfer window.

Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly has already joined the ranks, but it appears that Mourinho is intent on bringing more players to the club ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Mourinho's former midfielder Matic is clearly on his radar as he goes in search of changing the dynamic of his new squad.

Matic struggled to produce the goods on a consistent basis last season, but it's clear for all to see that he's one of the most talented defensive midfielders in the division.

Darmian swap deal?

But could Darmian really be involved in the potential deal?

Well, the full-back is a regular for Italy under Conte's guidance and the same report from the Mirror claims that the incoming Blues boss would like to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Darmian, 26, endured a tricky debut campaign on English soil, often failing to prove his credentials on a consistent basis.

It must be noted, however, that he enjoyed a prominent run in the side in the early stages of the season and clearly has the potential to become a fine Premier League full-back.

As Mourinho's interest in Matic continues, it will be interesting to see how the saga plays out.
