Manchester United are one of the clubs reportedly interested in signing the exciting young Swiss forward Breel Embolo.

FC Basel’s number nine, who is currently representing his national team at this summer’s European Championships in France, is widely regarded as one of the most talented teenagers in European football.

However, if it’s a move to Old Trafford he’s after, he might want to be a little more careful when giving interviews.

Embolo, who turned 19 in February, has revealed in an interview with Schweizer Illustrierte - per Paul Hirst of The Times - that his favourite song is, wait for it, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Moreover, Embolo said that he wants Liverpool’s famous anthem played at his funeral.

United keen to spend big on Embolo

German publication Bild revealed last week that United have been in touch with the teenager’s representatives and are considering submitting a formal bid to his current employers.

The report added that United are in pole position to sign the forward and that Jose Mourinho, Louis van Gaal’s successor, is a big fan.

United are understood to be willing to pay €35 million for the live-wire teenager, who has scored 31 goals and provided 22 assists in 90 matches for Basel, to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

Mourinho has already signed central defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal and is understood to have successfully organised a deal to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will sign a one-year deal for United after Euro 2016.

Embolo’s potential arrival would plunge Juan Mata’s Manchester United future into further doubt.

The Spaniard, who was axed by Mourinho at Chelsea, occupies the position (right-sided attacking winger) than Embolo is most comfortable.

However, the teenager is also capable of playing in a more central role; the position in which Marcus Rashford has flourished this season.
